Inspiring Interest in Math, Science, Engineering & Technology

The Pioneer High School Robotics Team, The Apes of Wrath, was established in 2001 to inspire young people’s interest in math, science, engineering, and technology. In 2008, we merged with Los Gatos High School's Robotics Team.

The Pioneer & Los Gatos High Schools team is part of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a multinational nonprofit organization that aspires to make science, math, engineering, and technology as cool for young people as sports are today.

Each year, the students work with engineers to design and build a robot that they compete with in the FIRST robotics competitions.

Community Involvement

In addition, The Apes of Wrath robotics team is committed to developing and supporting new FIRST robotics teams. This program provides real-life experiences and problem-solving opportunities that develop the math, science and technology skills needed in young people in order to ensure the future vitality of our community.

Self-Funded After-School Program

The Apes of Wrath is operated as an after-school program and is entirely self-funded by student fund-raising and community and corporate sponsorship.
